It's the
"Ribbon Cutting Celebration" for the
Historic Ridgeview Walk,
Hickory,
NC. - 11-26-24
Historic Ridgeview
Walk links the Ridgeview neighborhood to downtown Hickory and U.S. 70. The
Historic Ridgeview Walk
creates a 1.2-mile, 10-foot-wide multiuse path for
pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages. In addition to improving pedestrian
safety and connectivity,
the new walk easily connects residents to
community amenities and highlights the neighborhoods history. Historical
markers are placed along the route
to recognize and celebrate people and
places of historical significance in Ridgeview, as identified by community
stakeholders.
The "Untouchables" monument at the corner of Seventh Avenue
SW and Third Street SW is one of the historic focal points featured on the
trail.
The Historic Ridgeview Walk is the fourth of five segments to be
completed as part of the Hickory Trail. Other segments of this urban trail
and greenway system include the City Walk, Riverwalk, Aviation Walk, and
future OLLE Art Walk.
